It is always an honor to photograph a couple’s wedding. It’s rewarding work and I take immense pleasure in it. That being said, photographing Amy Fitzgerald and Tommy Montagna’s wedding at The Schoolhouse in Erie, PA, was something extra special.
Amy Lynn is a family friend. I’ve known her since childhood—we grew up in the same neighborhood, and she was friends with my older sister. I loved getting to be a part of Amy’s wedding to Tommy and witnessing what a beautiful life she has created for herself.
The Couple
Amy and Tommy became friends after their 25th class reunion. Six weeks after the event, they went on their first date together. Tom proposed on a family trip to Disney in Orlando, Florida. They built their relationship on a love for family, dogs, and inside jokes. Their love for each other is evident in their laughter—they even frequently say the same phrases, at the same time. They consider themselves to be a blended family, right down to their dogs.
The Schoolhouse
Amy and Tommy chose to have their wedding at The Schoolhouse in Fairview, Pennsylvania. The venue was vintage and charming, perfect for their intimate celebration. The Schoolhouse property provided the perfect backdrop to such a special day: the vast blue sky, lush grass, and a gorgeous weeping beech tree. The Schoolhouse is aptly named for the actual schoolroom inside the brick building, complete with a staircase entrance near the aisle. Their love for family was a key theme in the celebration. Amy and Tommy chose to have a sangria unity ceremony, symbolizing the togetherness of their new family. Amy’s son was even the one to give her away.
The Future for Amy and Tommy
Amy and Tommy are a testament to what it means to truly care for each other. When asked what they like most about the other, Amy mentioned how much she loves the passion Tom has for everything. Tom spoke about Amy’s wonderful personality. Their future will no doubt be filled with more laughter, inside jokes, memories, and–of course–dogs.
