As a wedding photographer in Erie PA, I do not often get the chance to be a tourist in my own city. Kelli and Dane’s wedding gave me a chance to do just that! It was a great opportunity to reacquaint myself with some iconic Erie sights while helping a great couple celebrate their big day.
Kelli and Dayne met over thirty years ago, having attended the same school and church in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Even though they had known each other for decades, it wasn’t until February of 2018 that the couple finally linked romantically. Dayne asked Kelli out to the classic dinner and a movie first date. In the beginning, they chatted over Facebook Messenger endlessly. The relationship quickly progressed, and they both realized they were perfectly comfortable with each other and could truly be themselves in each other’s company. Kelli knew Dayne was ‘the one” when she was blown away by how consistently genuine Dayne is. He is always true to his word, which really sealed the deal for her. Dayne decided to propose on July 4th, 2018 at Beach 6 on Presque Isle. He popped the question while they were watching the sun set behind the waves of Lake Erie.
A Tour Around Town
Erie was a natural wedding destination for this couple. They both love Erie and have a boat and a vacation home here. Kelli and Dayne decided on a few different spots for their bridal photos. As a wedding photographer in Erie PA I often take for granted the charm of my hometown. These shots were an amazing opportunity to see the city in the eyes of a tourist; taking in all the historical and cultural beauty Erie has to offer. We got some amazing shots at Bicentennial Tower with gorgeous Lake Erie glistening in the background, then headed over to the historic Commodore Oliver Hazard Memorial. The grounds around the statue are absolutely beautiful with tall shade trees lining the walkways. Next, we moved over to the Presque Isle lighthouse. It is a quaint little lighthouse and made for some sweet and romantic shots of Kelli and Dayne. Finally, we captured some breathtaking photos near the U.S. Brig Niagara, white sails billowing in the background.
Kelli and Dayne skipped the big formal wedding and instead opted for an intimate pop-up wedding with only their closest family and friends. The ceremony was held on Kite Beach at Presque Isle State Park, which could not be more perfect for this couple. Everything about this wedding and this couple was so sweet and charming. It was a blast being outside on the beach and enjoying all the sights that make Erie so special.
