May the Fourth be with you! Yes, tongue was planted firmly in cheek when Mindy Nicholson and Riley Webb planned their Star Wars themed wedding on May 4th. As a big fan of the movies myself, their day was incredibly fun to shoot. Let me tell you why…
“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” Mindy and Riley met and had an immediate connection. Riley popped the question 4 years to the day of their first date. Now, a little over a year later, the wedding has arrived. The pair enjoyed clowning it up during their engagement photo session with a snowball fight and lightsaber battle, foretelling the Star Wars themed wedding to come. Their play contrasted well with more serious shots showing the deep connection they have and how much they truly love each other.
Photographing a bride and groom preparing for their wedding really touches me. There’s so much anticipation and hope for the future shining through these images. It’s a time which can be easy to rush through in the busyness of getting ready for the ceremony. However, I assure you they are minutes well invested as you look back on this day in years to come.
The happy couple chose to enjoy their Star Wars themed wedding at Celebrations in Imperial, just minutes from Pittsburgh. A Celebrations wedding and reception is all-inclusive, allowing you to savor the day instead of feeling bogged down with small details. The banquet hall can accommodate up to 300 guests; you can never have too much space! A nice sized 16-foot square gazebo sits right outside the hall. It’s a lovely spot to capture intimate photos with a couple. There may even be room for some of the wedding party!
As Riley and Mindy relished their first kiss as husband and wife, it was evident to all in attendance that (excuse the pun) the force was strong with these two.
A grand party ensued, during which Riley was “living in the limelight” as he entertained everyone with his karaoke musical stylings. His set list included Rush’s Limelight and Metallica’s Master Of Puppets. It’s so wonderful to see a couple revel in their day and find humor in their shared interests and experiences.
Last but not least, it wouldn’t be a Star Wars themed wedding without the little details. If you ask me, I think Mindy and Riley nailed it! From centerpieces to cake toppers, this couple paid homage to Star Wars with class and style.
