I recently had the opportunity to photograph the Boston Store wedding of Rosa Fatica and Drevell Showers. Although the infamous Erie, PA humidity caused some slight adjustments, the wedding was beautiful and a lot of fun to shoot.
A Teenage Love Story
Rosa and Drevell met at a Blessed Sacrament football game when they were very young–only 13 years old! However, it wasn’t until the end of Rosa’s freshman year at Villa in May 2009 that Drevell asked Rosa to be his girlfriend. They have since been together for a total of eight years.
One of Rosa and Drevell’s favorite memories together is from one Halloween. The couple dressed up as salt and pepper—but contrary to what most people initially thought, it was Drevell who went as salt and Rosa who went as pepper.
Drevell proposed to Rosa on a bridge at Lawrence Park Golf Club. He was even able to have close family friend photograph the moment. After the proposal, Drevell surprised Rosa with an engagement party including all their friends and family.
A Boston Store Wedding
Not only were Rosa and Drevell an absolute pleasure to work with, but they chose two stunning venues to hold their wedding ceremony and reception.
Rosa and Drevell’s wedding ceremony was held at the historic Saint Patrick Church in Erie, PA. The gorgeous architecture and stained-glass windows were the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion.
The reception was held at Boston Store, another historic venue. Boston Store used to be a department store in downtown Erie but is now a commercial space. It’s a unique venue that boasts rustic brickwork, impressive buttresses, and even a clock tower. It was a great place for the celebration.
The Bridal Portraits
We started the bridal portraits on the lake front, but the heat and humidity forced a slight change in plans. We relocated to the sky bridge between the Bayfront Convention Center and Sheraton Hotel. There were also several photographs taken in Modern Tool Square, a redbrick apartment complex in downtown Erie, PA.
Rosa and Drevell share a genuine love for one another and it was inspiring to be able to capture that in their portraits.
“Drevell lights up every room he walks into,” Rosa said of her new husband. “His bright smile and outgoing personality bring out the best in others. He is thoughtful, hardworking, and takes care of those he loves.” Regarding Rosa, Drevell remarked that she is “so inclusive and makes family on both sides feel warm and welcome each visit.”
We enjoyed getting to know such a loving couple and wish them the very best in their future together.
