They say happiness is marrying your best friend. Jessica Van Cleve and Andrew Dugan did just that in their October 2018 wedding at Blessed Sacrament Church followed by reception at Nick’s Place. These best friends built a solid foundation for their relationship with a shared love of music and a great sense of humor.
Food for the Hearts
Despite attending the same grade school, Jessica and Andrew didn’t meet until 2010 when they both worked at their local Arby’s restaurant. They became fast friends and often hung out outside of work. During this time they really got to know each other and bonded over concerts, movies, and putt-putt games. After two years of being good friends, this fun-loving couple knew they wanted to take their relationship to the next level. Andrew finally asked Jessica out on a date while dining at an IHOP after an A Day to Remember concert.
Early in their friendship Andrew introduced Jessica to one of his favorite bands, The Lonely Biscuits and had planned on proposing to Jessica at one of their concerts in April 2017, but life had other plans. Jessica was due to start a new assignment for her job as a traveling nurse the day after the concert. She ended up missing the concert while Andrew attended with a friend. Unable to wait another day, Andrew drove all night to see Jessica, showing up at her hotel doorstep at 3 A.M with a concert t-shirt in hand. When Jessica finally let him in he got down on one and popped the question.
A Blessed Sacrament Church Wedding
Andrew and Jessica were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Erie, PA surrounded by their closest family and friends. It was a lovely ceremony full of good-natured humor and lots of love.
Fun with Bridal Portraits
We did the bridal shots on the bayside walking trail at the scenic Presque Isle State Park. The couple loves hiking and walking so this a great spot to photograph them doing something they love. Their beloved dogs, Penelope and Lady were incorporated into the photos. We also took some photos at the Arby’s where they met. It was really fun to see the bride and groom with all of their siblings and friends bond were their love story all started.
A Nick’s Place Reception
The reception was held at Nick’s Place in Edinboro, PA. This is a great venue; it’s elegant but cozy and comfortable. There is a spectacular panoramic view of the green countryside. The reception was wonderful, but honestly, I was nervous for most it. It was storming pretty hard for a portion of the reception and I was sure it would ruin any chances of sunset photos. I am happy to say I was completely wrong; not only did the rain stop, but we got a huge radiant rainbow which we took full advantage of!
