As wedding photographers in Erie, PA it is always fun to capture weddings in beautiful Downtown Erie. Thank you, Katelyn and Richie, for trusting us to capture your wedding memories.
A Budding Romance beginning with a Text
Attending a close-knit high school, Katelyn’s brother suggested that she text his friend Rich. Katelyn sent the text and the love story grows from there. It was months after that first text before Richie finally asked Katelyn out, and they officially became a couple.
After 9 years of dating, Richie caught Katelyn completely off guard when he popped the question. Richie planned the proposal by making sure their friends and Katelyn’s brothers and sisters were there. Richie and Katelyn headed to a fancy dinner at the Alley Cat Oyster Bar with friends. Once at the restaurant, the friends suggested taking couple photos since everyone was dressed to impress. When it was Rich & Katelyn’s turn, much to Katelyn’s surprise, Rich gave a romantic spill, got down on one knee, and popped the question! Awestruck at first, Katelyn had a hard time processing what was happening. But after a glance of the beautiful ring in the red box, she realized and of course said “Yes!” All of the friends and family came out of hiding to celebrate with the couple. As a bonus, friends captured the special moment with photos, turning it into an engagement photoshoot.
The Couple’s Language of Love
The couple honeymooned in Mexico, where they communicated using a language that Katelyn’s dad taught her as a child. He called it the “IB Language”. The couple enjoyed throwing people off with this unique language. Although others may not have understood what the two were saying, the love between Richie and Katelyn was clear to understand!
A Beautiful Downtown Erie, PA Wedding
Katelyn and Richie’s wedding ceremony was held in the grand ballroom at the Sheraton Bayfront Hotel, which offers stunning waterfront views. We loved doing the first look with Katelyn’s father, mom, and two sisters. It was especially fun to include their furry family member in the bridal portraits. Pets are a big part of families and it was great to include their dog in the bridal photos. Capturing the couple portraits at sunset was an added bonus to this stunning ceremony in Downtown Erie, PA.
The wedding celebration continued at the Concourse at Union Station where we were able to sneak outside for a few night photos in front of the historic, timeless building. What a great end to this Downtown Erie wedding!
