Leslee and Carl’s Lake Erie Community Park Engagement Photos

It’s hard to believe that the new year is already on the horizon! One of our couples, Leslee and Carl, met with us for some stunning Lake Erie Community Park engagement photos in anticipation of their 2021 wedding. These two are such a fun pair with the best origin story. We’re so happy to have gotten to do their portraits, and now we’re thrilled to share the results and stories with you!

It’s Elementary, My Dear!

Leslee and Carl are the definition of a home-grown Erie couple. The two met in their third-grade classroom at Elk Valley Elementary School. They became fast friends, with Leslee developing quite the crush. Let’s just say, if her signature on the marriage certificate looks well-rehearsed, it was!

The future Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were a frequent item during middle school. Although their official relationship didn’t start until later on in high school, Carl says that he’s always known Leslee is the one. As Leslee put it, “It always came back to him.”

Years after their initial meeting, the proposal arrived. It turns out, Leslee and Carl would be ready to take the plunge at the exact same moment… albeit, in slightly different ways! They were cliff-jumping in Kentucky when Carl decided to pop the question. Unfortunately, Leslee had her eyes on the prize and almost jumped into the water before she noticed what was happening! Carl caught her just in time and soon she was jumping for joy.

Capturing a Family Legacy

We started the session at Leslee’s family property. There had been thunderstorms all morning, but the skies cleared just in time to get some stunning portraits. As it turns out, Leslee’s connection to Erie goes back even further than third grade. The street where the property is located is actually named after Leslee’s grandfather. When the couple’s dogs joined in on the session, it felt like the whole family was officially involved in the fun!

We also stopped at Lake Erie Community Park to capture some more of the gorgeous fall colors. The park is 125 acres and has nearly a mile of lakeshore. We’re looking forward to the Lewis wedding and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for this happy pair!
