I was proud to be part of Kelsey and Nick’s Penn State Erie engagement session. It’s an honor to work with folks who protect our country, and it was lots of fun getting to know them.
The pair met at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station in Niagara Falls, NY. Little did Nick know, the first day with his new unit would also be the day he met Kelsey, who was on base for job training. Some friendly joking commenced, phone numbers were exchanged, and afterward the two texted each other all day… and during a previously planned date of Kelsey’s that evening! Kelsey made her excuses, left her date, and headed out to meet Nick. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Proposal
Within 3 months of their first meeting, Kelsey knew Nick was ‘the One’ and told him so!
The feeling was mutual, but first Kelsey needed to meet someone special to her intended. Nick invited her to visit his family in Conneautville. An only child and self-proclaimed momma’s boy, it was important to him that his mother love Kelsey just as much as he did. She also met Nick’s cousin and best friend – and best man to be – Josh. Kelsey quickly charmed them both, and Nick knew he’d found his “wingman for life.”
Kelsey knew Nick was asking her parents for their permission, but she didn’t realize quite how on the ball he really was! She was at home one evening, getting ready to do laundry, when Nick arrived and got down on one knee with the ring. Kelsey was so surprised, she had to ask him more than once if he was serious! Sometimes the simplest of moments can be the most romantic.
Penn State Erie Engagement Session
Currently one of my favorite places to shoot engagement and bridal sessions, Penn State Erie contains many different areas which photograph well. Since Nick and Kelsey are both hard core Penn State fans, getting a few shots in front of the Nittany Lion was a MUST.
The Lake Erie Arboretum Frontier Park
Kelsey, Nick, and I chose to continue our session at the Lake Erie Arboretum (LEAF) in Frontier Park. This is another location full of spectacular scenery. I love the rustic bridge crossing Cascade Creek. The bridge leads to the wonderful Virtual Tree Gazebo, a work of art, really. A striking Labyrinth and many mature plantings provide a never-ending source of backdrop choices.
I had so much fun working with Kelsey and Nick. Absolutely can’t wait to photograph their Penn State themed wedding in October, 2019. Stay tuned to the blog to see the story of their wedding.
