Jen and Mitch’s Rustic Engagement Session at the Barn at Conneaut Creek

This rustic engagement session for Jen and Mitch is one I won’t easily forget. This fun-loving, adventurous couple made finding inspiring shots easy, and it was truly a pleasure to work with them both.

The Connection

March 6th, 2015 was a special day to Jen for a couple of reasons. Not only was it the day her niece, Hallee, was born, but it was also when Mitch entered her life. Mitch stopped by Meadville Medical Center to congratulate the new parents, but no matter how adorable the new bundle of joy was, he couldn’t keep his eyes from straying to Jen.

As luck would have it, Jen and Mitch ran into each other again that night at Smokin’ J’s bar after visiting hours. After a while of making eye contact from across the room, Mitch finally worked up the nerve to approach Jen and buy drinks for her and her family. A week later, Jen’s sister reconnected the two would-be lovebirds by giving Jen’s number to Mitch. At this point Mitch didn’t waste any time. He texted Jen that night and he’s texted her every day since then.

After months of texting, visiting and getting to know each other; Mitch decided it was time to make the relationship official. On June 12, 2015, he took Jen out for a night of fun, laughter, and mini golf. When the time was right he asked Jen to be his girlfriend . . . and she said no. Undeterred by the seeming lack of interest, he asked again the next morning and she gave the same response. He asked again and again and again. Finally, his persistence paid off. Jen agreed to be his girlfriend, but she had no idea that agreement would lead to a lifetime of love.

The Proposal

On Labor Day 2016, Jen planned to meet Mitch and his family at Woodcock Lake Park for their annual Labor Day family picnic. After a long day at work, Jen started over the bridge looking forward to fun with family. Suddenly, Mitch meets her on the bridge. He asked her about her day, which she thought was a little weird. Then, she caught sight of her sister and friend hiding in the bushes. She looked around again and noticed all conversations had stopped and the rest of Mitch’s family was staring intently in her direction. At that point, she realized what was going on. Completely taken aback, Jen watched as Mitch dropped to one knee and asked her to become his wife. In classic Jen fashion, she responded, “I hate you!” But to everyone’s joy, she accepted the ring and the family picnic also became an engagement celebration.

Capturing the Romance

Jen and Mitch decided to capture their love for each other at The Barn at Conneaut Creek. Their rustic engagement session began inside the barn before capturing sweetheart poses while crossing a railroad bridge. They took more lovely pictures in front of the beautiful estate and were even able to showcase their fun personalities in some amazing photographs in a hay field. Can’t wait for their summer wedding at Edinboro University!
