Matt Mead Photography’s Top 5 Favorite Erie, PA Wedding Venues
To help ease some of the information overwhelm when planning your special day, we put together a list of our favorite Erie, PA wedding venues. We hope you’ll love them as much as we do! These locations impress us with their opportunities for outdoor natural light, ability to reflect images along a shoreline, interesting and detailed architecture, or stunning landscapes.
1. Erie Yacht Club in Erie, PA
“Steeped in tradition but known for its hospitality” is the slogan of the Erie Yacht Club. With a Club that is over 125 years in the making, you can expect a venue with not only historical dignification, but a panoramic of Lake Erie that is unmatched. Endless views of Presque Isle Bay and spacious docks promise the ability for an outdoor ceremony, overlooking a sparkling lake and fleet of boats. If water and the outdoors are your happy place, the EYC may be the perfect venue.
EYC is a photographer’s dream come true. We appreciate the opportunities to play with the natural light, reflections upon the lake, backdrops of downtown Erie, or the EYC gardens in your background. These elements of nature’s texture add depth and purpose to your wedding photos and we want nothing more than to stun you with your own love story. You’ll want to book EYC early as it is known for its celebrations.
2. Port Farms in Waterford, PA
Port Farms, where timeless and tradition meet. If you are looking for a charming and rustic farm setting, look no further than Port Farms. Here the roots are deep and the landscape is lush. Outside Waterford, PA lies Port Farms, a wedding venue that also operates as a working farm! For four generations, Port Farms has been serving the community. What originally was a potato farm is now currently a working farm and event venue.
With fields of flowers as tall as you and green as far as the eye can see, Port Farms is romance, whimsy, and country life all rolled into one. A large wooden gazebo, rustic benches for guests and abundant flora and fauna encourages nature into your union. Next door, the rustic barn boasts a warm wood tone, with inside twinkle lights abounding. Port Farms is where family tradition comes alive with opportunity for a unique and creative wedding venue.
3. Quincy Cellars in Ripley, New York
A short drive out of Erie, barely across state lines, will lead you to Quincy Cellars in Ripley, NY. If you are looking for a historic and modern upscale wedding venue, with indoor or outdoor flexibility, Quincy Cellars is it! A 130 year, three story renovated barn is the focal point of the venue. Views that look out over the pond and vineyard are stunning. We can’t wait to photograph you looking out over the pond, under the high wooden covered patio, or amongst abundant vineyard vines. Private, classic, and a winery to boot, Quincy Cellars would be a tasteful and romantic location to “cellarbrate” your union!
4. Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel, Erie, PA
If city meets history is of importance to you, then the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel makes an outstanding wedding venue. We love the Sheraton for its ability to be able to hold both your ceremony and reception on site, but also for its architectural elements at the hotel and iconic, historic Erie landmarks within walking distance. Fun feature: the Sheraton connects to the Erie County Convention Center though a windowed sky bridge, perfect for capturing rainy day photos while still feeling like you’re outdoors.
Let the views speak for themselves from atop one of the Sheraton’s terraces. And if we time the sunset from the terraces, exquisite is what your photo backdrop would be! From there, city views to the south and the shimmering Presque Isle Bay to the north are seen in the distance – excellent Erie backdrops to your special day. And did we mention that each ballroom has waterfront views? What a way to celebrate your union together! The Sheraton is a one stop wedding venue that covers all your bases.
5. Warner Theatre in Downtown Erie, PA
The Warner Theatre offers “opulence not seen anywhere else in the region” as Erie’s only historic art deco landmark. On the National Register of Historic Places, the theatre boasts atmosphere in spades. Classic elegance, ambiance, and culture are the goals of a wedding at the Warner Theatre. With its Downtown Erie location, the Warner Theatre’s Grand Lobby is an excellent and tasteful location to celebrate your wedding.
The Warner Theatre specializes in larger weddings accommodating up to 250 guests for a sit down dinner and can hold guests indoors year round, weather is no factor. Prepare to be dazzled by the gold backed mirrors that reflect light from the sparkling crystal chandeliers. Gold and silver leafed features accent the dramatic bronze staircase and heavy, rich tapestries turn these textiles into art.
