I was supposed to shoot Amanda and Dennis’ engagement photos in 2020, but coronavirus had other ideas. When we finally got the chance to reschedule, I decided to make it a personal and special day for the two of them. Fortunately, the pair came prepared with a one-of-a-kind session idea that highlighted their mutual passion and fun-loving personalities. Instead of hitting up one of my usual photo locations, we headed to the Play Port Arcade Erie! The bright lights and their playful energy made for incredible arcade engagement photos. They had so much fun playing some of their favorite games but, of course, it’s not about winning or losing. Rather, it’s about appreciating the adorable moments that resulted from their love! Here are some highlights.
Love is a Two-Player Game
Amanda and Dennis met within a group of mutual friends, the perfect place to let their competitive natures and love of games shine! Their frequent group gatherings allowed the pair to grow closer, with Dennis frequently staying late to help Amanda clean up when she was hosting. Though the friendship naturally transitioned to something more, it was put to the test when they faced nearly five years of long-distance. Still, they persevered with the help of their easy-going natures and love for each other.
When they finally reunited, they celebrated with plenty of Dance Dance Revolution and Rock Band — only cementing their hunch that they made a perfect duo. It wasn’t long before they were talking about taking their relationship to the next level. When Dennis proposed near the Occoquan River, Amanda was ready with her answer before he even finished the question! Needless to say, when given the opportunity to spend life with her best friend, Amanda was totally game.

I always find my job incredibly fun, but you can’t beat spending a day at the arcade! Play Port Arcade in Erie was the perfect venue for this gamer gal and guy. Engagement sessions are all about celebrating the unique stories of couples, so it was such a privilege to capture Amanda and Dennis in their element. Between and throughout games of Guitar Hero, Bowling, Pinball, and — of course! — Dance Dance Revolution, the joy of this couple truly shined. If their DDR chops are any indication, I’m confident their wedding reception will be a blast!
