Jen and Eric’s love of adventure, travel and intimate settings brought them to Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya to celebrate with friends and family for their destination wedding. Trust me when I say that destination beach weddings are not awful! If you are looking for something outside of a traditional local/church wedding experience, consider traveling with your loved ones to say your “I do’s.”
The First Meeting
As luck would have it, Jen and Eric met on Jen’s orientation day at her new job. His handshake and friendliness impressed her despite being introduced to several other staff members. As Jen became settled into her role, and as they worked together, Eric noticed Jen’s blue eyes and how she would make him laugh. It wasn’t long before they found themselves on a first date! Jen and Eric dined over oysters and delicious wine at the award-winning Left Bank Restaurant in York, PA.
They knew things were getting serious and ready to go to the next level when Jen asked Eric about his intentions for dating. “Are you just dating around, or are you dating for marriage?” This gave Eric hope that Jen was the one he had been looking for!
A Hot Air Proposal
Nothing but love would have raised Eric from his slumber at 4 am to pick up Jen and her family for a sunrise hot air balloon ride. Onboard the hot air balloon and 2,000 feet above the earth’s surface, Eric got down on one knee, with the newly risen sunrise beyond, and proposed to Jen. A genuinely out-of-this-world proposal! Jen was genuinely surprised at the proposal but remembers she had no hesitation in answering an emphatic “YES!” One of the traits Jen admires most in Eric is his “commitment to making life an adventure and making time for fun wherever we can find it.” A very appropriate proposal for this travel and fun loving couple.
A Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya Wedding: Where the Sand and the Sea Meet
Between Cancun and Tulum, and across from Cozumel, Mexico, lies the private, adult-only resort of Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. Jen and Eric planned a beach wedding. And under a wooden canopy with white sand between their toes, these two lovers pledged their forever. The bride was radiant in a sleeveless, deep v-cut lace-covered gown with a sheer flowing train. And the groom was handsome in a traditional white, button-down guayabera shirt paired with sky blue chinos that matched the gorgeous ocean background of their nuptials. The two celebrated with their close friends and family amidst a tropical outdoor backdrop. String lights abounded as the sun faded into the horizon and the sky turned dark.
If a romantic and relaxing location is your dream than we can heartily recommend a Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya wedding! This was our first visit, and we are already looking for a reason to go back!
Here’s To A Lifetime of Adventure!
Jen and Eric dream of remaining “healthy enough to travel and be able to see the world together. To laugh together and have fun in some way, every day. And to keep dreaming and planning the future we want to create together.”
We wish them many more years of happiness and health on their upcoming adventures!
