One of the great joys of taking engagement photos is having the chance to meet new couples and hear the stories of their love. Every photoshoot becomes an opportunity to retell their love story in photos. While wedding photography can be formal and elegant, in engagement photos we get to play a little bit more and really let the couple’s personality shine out.
When I met Morgan Demyanovich and Ben Ropelewski to take their fall engagement photos at Frontier Park in Erie, PA, I knew I had to capture this couple’s fun romance and relentless positivity. We went to some of my favorite locations in beautiful Frontier Park along Cascade Creek for inspiration from nature, and created some memorable engagement photos they can treasure for years to come.
The Couple’s First Meeting
Sometimes pure chance leads to a meeting of hearts, and beautiful relationships arise out of that happenstance. That was the case for Ben and Morgan. When I asked them how they met, their responses put a smile on my face.
On a chilly Saturday in March 2016, there was a party. Neither Ben nor Morgan had originally intended to go to the party, but something drew them there all the same. Amidst the color and lights of the party, Morgan spied Ben from across the room, and decided to see if the charming “and rather scrawny” (their words!) man would dance with her. They’ve been together ever since.
Today they still celebrate their anniversary on March 12th—the day they first met at a party neither one was supposed to go to.
A Proposal on the River
Ben’s surprise proposal took place against one of Europe’s most gorgeous, picturesque backdrops: Prague. After a long day of sightseeing all throughout Prague, Ben and Morgan went for a ride in a paddleboat on Vltava River, which is known for its many famous bridges and exceptional views. While Morgan was absorbed in admiration of the historic cityscape wrapped around them, Ben pushed past his nervousness, brought out the ring, and asked Morgan to marry him.
She, of course, said yes!
The Faces of Love
I asked the couple what they love most about one another.
Ben adores Morgan’s natural caring and her positive, sunny spirit that lights up the days of everyone around her. She loves dogs and has a serious passion for good deals, so she has a great eye for the unexpected!
Morgan loves Ben’s supportive nature and caring soul, especially how he takes care of her consistently. Ben and Morgan are definitely well-matched!
Sunny Outlooks
The couple’s positivity and care for one another started early. One of their first memories as a couple—from the very night they met!—came when Morgan asked Ben to buy her some fries from McDonald’s. Ben took it upon himself to go above and beyond: he attempted to impress Morgan by taking shots from the leftover ketchup cups.
“I knew I had a keeper,” Morgan laughed.
Fall Engagement Inspiration in the Park
We shot Morgan & Ben’s engagement photos on October 15 in beautiful Frontier Park in Erie, PA. The park is especially beautiful in Fall—it’s one of my favorite places to take couples for engagement photos! It was a pleasure to see such a lovely couple framed by the autumn colors along Cascade Creek.
Ben and Morgan’s love is clear in every photo. I wish them all the best as they enter the next stage of their life together!
