For Becca and Mike’s engagement photos around Erie, PA, we selected both the Modern Tool Square and Frontier Park. These sites provide both rustic, urban edge and lush greenery. This type of subtle contrast works perfectly for engagement photos; both read as contemporary and somewhat minimalist, enhancing the moments captured during the shoot. And what moments they were! Becca and Mike were so fun to work with and we can’t wait for their wedding at the Zem Zem Shrine Club.
Becca & Mike
Becca and Mike met at an Erie Thunderbirds event. Mike instantly knew he wanted to go out with Becca, but their first date didn’t happen till a year later. Sparks flew as they chatted over cocktails at Rum Runners. After, they walked around CelebrateErie, enjoying the city lights and music. It didn’t take too long for the pair to make it official. Over the course of their relationship, the pair have enjoyed countless adventures together, traveling all over the US and abroad.
Theirs is an unbelievably sweet, over-the-top proposal story for the books. Mike had planned to visit Becca while she studied abroad in Germany. However, this original plan hit a roadblock: Mike got a new job and had to cancel. Becca was disappointed, but she understood.
Now, Mike had planned to propose on that original visit. Although a wrench had been thrown in that scheme, Mike refused to be thwarted; instead, he set the stage for an even better surprise.
Becca’s roommates in Germany happily conspired with Mike to develop the elaborate proposal, texting him updates and keeping him in the loop. Mike even staged Snapchat photos which made it appear as though he were still at home when he was, in fact, on his way to Becca.
In Bonn, Germany—a beautiful town which sits alongside the Rhine river—Mike caught up with Becca and her friends. One moment, Becca was having a normal conversation with her roommates. The next, she turned around to see Mike on one knee. With a beaming smile, he proclaimed, “I just couldn’t wait another day to ask you to marry me.” Of course, Becca said yes. According to her friends, it took Becca hours to recover from the shock of it all.
A couple days after the proposal, Mike hopped back on a plane and headed back to start his new job. If that’s not devotion, I don’t know what is.
Engagement Photos Locations around Erie PA
Modern Tool Square
We started Becca and Mike’s engagement photos around Erie PA at Modern Tool Square, a residential area with warm red brick and climbing greenery. It’s decidedly modern while still embodying a sort of old-world rustic charm. Come to think of it, it’s not too different from a charming European street.
Frontier Park, home to over 1,000 trees, is naturally beautiful. Everywhere I looked, I saw a perfect backdrop for a photo. And for an adventurous, travel-loving couple like Becca and Matt, these two venues made perfect sense.
