There’s nothing better than helping a happy couple celebrate their engagement. Okay — maybe that’s not true. There’s nothing better than helping a happy couple celebrate their engagement alongside their puppy. It was an absolute privilege to work with Victoria, Shawn, and their puppy Kinsey to capture their engagement photos at Erie Yacht Club and Modern Tool Square. The outdoorsy trio were naturals in front of the camera, and I’m so thrilled to share some of my favorite shots.
The Perfect Trail Pair
Victoria and Shawn first heard of each other through a mutual friend and decided to meet up for an outdoor adventure. Beginning in the Asbury Woods, the pair conquered a sixteen-mile bike ride. Little did they know, they were beginning a much longer and more exciting journey!
Through miles of trails, health scares, and plenty of Top Gun, Victoria and Shawn became inseparable. The adoption of their puppy, Kinsey, only made for more nature adventures and discoveries. The trail-loving trio did everything together, meaning that Kinsey was actually present for the proposal!
Victoria and Shawn had decided to go hiking to the Penn State Behrend gorge — a favorite spot of the pair but a new setting for Kinsey. After taking a few pictures, Victoria sat down on the rock ledge. Shawn joined her and soon pulled the ring out of his pocket. The beautiful moment added even more sentimentality to an already special spot. Now, the pair is going from hiking the trails to walking down the aisle.
Session Locations
Engagement Photos at Modern Tool Square
Our first stop for the engagement session was the Modern Tool Square. The complex is a classic part of downtown Erie, filled with stunning building facades and blossoming wildlife. Surrounded by the towering, strong units in the Square, I couldn’t help but find it reminiscent of the life that Shawn and Victoria are building together.
Engagement Photos at Erie Yacht Club
We made one more stop during the day. It was especially important for me to get some engagement photos at Erie Yacht Club, because this is where they’ll be married in June! The romantic pictures are definitely foreshadowing – you could already feel the magic in the air.
The chilly night had us all a little jealous of Kinsey’s fur coat, but the amazing sunset that emerged made it all worth it. I know that this was just the first of many amazing views in the couple’s new life together.
